Subdivisions
The Harakeke Subdivision faced seasonal challenges that put both compliance and community reputation at risk. Winter rains created erosion and sediment risks, while summer brought dust issues along high-visibility roads and residential areas. Instant Green delivered tailored solutions to keep the development safe, compliant, and environmentally sound.

Te Awa Subdivision
Without effective ground stabilization and revegetation, the site faced challenges such as soil loss, dust, sediment runoff into stormwater systems, and difficulty in establishing long-term vegetation cover. The developer required an environmentally sound and cost-effective solution to quickly stabilize the area and promote healthy plant growth.
Parklands Subdivision
Approx. 350,000m3 of silt from Cyclone Gabrielle imported to fill the Parklands development for Napier City Council. Silt brings dust issues normally – instant green provided water cart additives for construction and immediately stabilised areas with Stabi-Mulch once at finished level. Over just 10 days onsite, 290,000m2 of Stabi-Mulch was applied at 2500kg/ha to instantly stop the dust, and stabilise the silt from erosion or sediment movement. Achieved 224 for client without watering requirements due to 1378% water holding capacity of Stabi-Mulch.

After a major slip blocked part of SH35 at Makarori Beach, steep, erodible soils needed immediate stabilisation. With limited organic matter and exposed clay batters, the site required a strong, long-term erosion control solution. Instant Green applied hydro mulching and soil blankets to restore stability and vegetation cover.
Napier - Gisborne Slip Repairs
Cyclone Gabrielle triggered extensive slips along State Highway 5, threatening safety and transport reliability. With urgency high and conditions challenging, Instant Green provided rapid erosion control and revegetation solutions. The work stabilised slips, reduced risks, and helped keep this critical route open.
State Highway 50 Expressway
Following Cyclone Gabrielle, Instant Green stabilised silt-based earthworks on the Hawke’s Bay Expressway using Stabi-Mulch. Applied at 3,000 kg/ha with a custom seed blend, the solution achieved immediate dust control, rapid vegetation strike, and resilience through 80 mm of rainfall, supporting safe and sustainable highway construction.
Renewable Energy
Turitea Windfarm
Having had failed results with hydroseed with newspaper, hay mulch with tack, client came to Instant Green. Trialled site with Stabi-Mulch applied at 2500kg/ha on steep topsoil batter. Site receives 100mm of rain within 5 days of application with no erosion or sediment movement. Instant Green stabilised remaining 330,000m2 of project with Stabi-Mulch applied at 2500kg/ha.
Harapaki Windfarm
1,200,000m2 of Stabi-Mulch and Soil Blanket completed over 3 years, including through Cyclone Gabrielle. Applied Dust-Loc to Haul roads to reduce water cart needs and increase Hick Bros operator efficiency. Challenges onsite included snow through winter, mobilising tracked machines to access areas, achieving grass strike through winter, multiple 100mm rain events. Carbon footprint/carbon emissions reduced by 48% when using Stabi-Mulch, compared to imported hydro mulch alternatives.
Land Stabilisation & Slip Control
Papamoa Eastern Interchange
Over 200,000m2 of Stabi-Mulch applied at 2,500kg/ha over the course of the project. No green dye added as requested by the BOP regional council. Site ran parallel to an expressway, so it was vital that dust was kept under control and the site looked good to the public. Sandy soils but our off road capable trucks managed to get around easily.
Steep, clay-rich batters at Makarori required advanced stabilisation following a significant slip event. Instant Green’s tailored Stabi-mulch solution locked soils in place, resisted heavy rain, and achieved near-total grass strike — even under cyclone conditions.

After Cyclone Gabrielle, State Highway 5 experienced extensive slips, presenting a severe hazard to commuters and jeopardizing the structural integrity of the highway. The slips, spread over seven days of cyclonic activity, created an urgent need for stabilization and erosion control to mitigate further damage and ensure the safety of both drivers and critical infrastructure.

Stop Banks
300,000m2 of Stabi-Mulch at 2,500kg/ha applied to over 15km Stop bank breaches. Contracted directly to Hawkes Bay regional council, communicating directly with all contractors across multiple sites. Working all year round, adjusting seed blends to suit, considering soil types and temperatures (depending on time of year).
